The Electrolux Cook-off

So last week I blogged about this upcoming cooking event featuring the Electrolux cooktop.  This live event this week featured a cookoff between a gas, electric and induction cooktop.

Three chefs, Phoebe Lapine, Jennifer Perillo, and Camille Becerra faced off over

Pan Roasted Cauliflower

from Food52’s Your Most Impressive Dinner Party Side contest on three different cooktops.

I knew nothing about induction cooking before the event.  I honestly was surprised about how cool and different they are.  With induction cooking, the top doesn’t get warm to the touch – so it’s super kid friendly compared to the other two cooktops.  I was also intrigued to learn that it can only use certain kinds of pans – ones that magnets stick to.  I guess that’s how it heats up by using that as the energy source.  I also learned that induction cooktops can boil water in 90 seconds! I mean – sign me up for that!! As a mom, that’s the kind of time I can use for cooking! 🙂

Electrolux give away a cooktop to a lucky viewer in the live chat.  I was not that person.

If you want to watch the cook off, here’s the link.
