Broissants come to Winter Park’s Peterbrooke!

Winter Park is so lucky to have not only a great chocolate store, but the owners doing some amazing things and are just amazing people.

You know I love Peterbrooke Chocolate, I mean, I even had my birthday party there!

They invited some bloggers over Friday to test one of their new creations, the Broissant.  It’s kind of like a Cronut – only better.

The cronut is a mix of a donut – but with flaky croissant dough.  It takes a long time to make and involves something called laminating dough.  It sounds way to complicated, but the work is pretty amazing.

The taste test had us sample the 7 different flavors they are starting with.  Those flavors:

  • Strawberry Puree
  • Blueberry Compote
  • Maple Bacon Glaze
  • Ceylon Cinnamon Sugar
  • Chocolate Bourbon Ganache
  • Dark Chocolate Sea Salt Caramel
  • Peanut Butter filled with Nutter Butter and Milk Chocolate Ganache

Are you drooling yet? These were all freshly made for us and were delicious all pipping hot and dripping with toppings.  I’m told Peterbrooke will make the made-to-order.  So you’ll get them warm.  It’s like the “Hot Donuts Now” sign on ALL THE TIME – except this comes with amazing toppings and is so much lighter tasting then a regular donut.  The best part as well, they use all local ingredients from area stores and growers.  They are really invested in the community and it’s nice to see.

The Broissant will cost $4 each.  The little guys (called pepites, but they are basically the donut hole) will have 3 for $3.50.

I’m not a huge fruit person – so I thought those were only ok.  Bacon was surprisingly good – not sure why I was surprised, but it was FABULOUS.  The Chocolate Bourbon was really great and I really wanted to lick all the chocolate frosting off the plate.  But the real king and queen were the Sea Salt and the Peanut Butter.  Those two won the big prize for me.  If the Nutter Butter was made with dark chocolate, I would have literally eaten every single one in the store.

Thanks to Jami and Kevin for hosting a great event and for letting bloggers in to taste test – great idea!! 🙂

Now – I leave you with food porn!
