Tina Fey tackles more topics that mirror my life

There are countless episodes of 30 Rock where my husband and I have wondered out-loud…is our house bugged?  Perhaps my office is bugged?  Is someone stealing my life and then writing about it on tv?

There are the obvious similarities to myself and Tina Fey.  Her character, Liz Lemon works in television with a bunch of idiots (not that I work with idiots…but…) and basically runs into ridiculous situations that parallel my everyday life.  More similarities: I wear glasses, have brown hair, am from Chicago (where Tina worked for years) and love food….yes – those could be anyone.  But we have the same type of humor.  I think I’m more like Tina than Liz – but…where’s the line.

But now that 30 Rock is over, perhaps people will stop always telling me I’m Liz Lemon (which I don’t mind at ALL).  Now, Tina Fey is heading into fancy movie making!  And her next story…is something I totally could have written for her and now I’m angry I didn’t think of it myself.

Tina is planning to do her next project with SNL alum Paula Pell.  She is one of the funniest women around and also played Pete’s wife Paul on 30 Rock.  She has written a new script called, The Nest….a comedy about two thirtysomething sisters who spend one last crazy weekend in their childhood home before selling it. I mean…..really…SOMEONE IS STEALING MY LIFE. The film will be directed by Pitch Perfect director Jason Moore. Fey will play one of the sisters. There’s no word yet on who will play the other.  Maybe that could be me?You see…my parents sold our childhood home in 2004 and followed us here to Florida.  I have lived in that house me entire life until moving to college.  It’s quite traumatic for  my sisters and me.  We never really got the chance to say goodbye and pack up the house.  Part of me really wishes I did – but then again, I can’t even drive by it when we are back in Chicago…it’s just too emotional.  I do have dreams about it ALL THE TIME.  I really want to just win the lotto and buy it back.  That is my dream.
