 It’s taken my brain a day to STOP FREAKING OUT over the news about Tina Fey and Amy Poehler co-hosting the Golden Globes in January.

Trivia question – who hosted last year’s awards show? Can’t remember? It was Ricky Gervais. He is funny in his own right, but the show was awkward. His funny seems to cross that line and he was sidestepping all night long of trying to be funny but trying not to offend.

And that is why I am so excited for this year. Tina and Amy know how to be funny without needing to resort to swear words or attack humor. Now they do it from time-to-time, and when they do, I often starting laughing-crying because it’s even more hysterical. But the truth of the matter, they don’t have to in order to get a laugh.

There really is so much to look forward to!  What will they wear?  Which of their comedy friends will join in?  I’m guessing Jimmy Fallon, Rachel Dratch and others.  I’m also hoping that they could just cancel the awards themselves and do a two our comedy special.

If that doesn’t happen, I’m hoping the Globes will be like a Mean Girls Part 2 – featuring Ms. Norbury and Mrs. George…

 Or perhaps it will be a little more Baby Mama with Kate and Angie…

So I’m trying to really focus on how to handle Golden Globes night.  Traditionally for award shows – I sit in my PJ’s, in bed, with my laptop and ipad joining chat rooms and twitter to comment.  But I’m thinking…of hosting a party.

What if we had the giant television with the awards show – people bring their laptops – another tv shows a live chat room with all the comments – another monitor shows twitter…so much fun.  With a twist….

All attendees have to come dressed as your favorite character from a Tina Fey/Amy Poehler skit.

Extra points if you come dressed as:

For boys:

Come dressed as Mr. Duvall from Mean Girls, complete with Carpal Tunnel cast.

Come dressed as Barry from Baby Mama.

Come as the great Colonel Angus from the great SNL skit.

For Girls:

Come dressed wearing “Mom Jeans

Come as one of the Bush twins

Or come as Kaitlin – that’s an easy costume!

And there are so many great other ones to choose from!
