New Art in Downtown Orlando

I like to get out and walk during my lunch in Downtown Orlando.  I don’t get to do it often enough, but I do make it a point to try to get out at least once-a-week just to take advantage of my surroundings.  Lately, some new art has been popping up around the downtown core.  It’s all part of something called, See Art Orlando.

This one with the birds is my favorite.  You’ll find it on the north side of Lake Eola.

This bird art sits on the north side of Lake Eola in Downtown Orlando.

In all, eight sculptors are going up across downtown Orlando, all sponsored by private donations.

All of the See Art Orlando art is expected to be complete by Nov. 18 and be unveiled at a celebration at 5:30 p.m.

Here is a map of all the locations:

I call this one the prickly ball.

So what do you think of the art? Do you like it?  I think I like it.  I do wish we had something else that would really help brand our Orlando identity.  When I see “The Bean” I think Chicago – and everyone wants to go take their picture there.  Same thing in Time Square. We need something that people want to take pictures in front of and share with the world.

But, this is a step in that direction and it is nice to see some nice art popping up around the city.  I would love to hear your thoughts!
