Boston, Ricin, Explosions….just a long week

This has been the longest week.  I mean…just emotionally draining.

I’m shocked, horrified, annoyed, angry, sad, grateful…

Such a mix of emotions.  A few rambling thoughts I felt I had to share:

  • I’m so impressed with runners.  I can’t imagine what it’s like to run 26 miles, as I can’t even run one.  No lie.  I don’t run…never will.  But I can’t even image how horrifying it was for every single person not only in the race, but those just out supporting their loved ones.  Devastating…all this hard work…all this time and commitment and effort and bam.  In a second, it’s all ruined by some selfish assholes who had their reasons – which we may soon learn.
  • Say what you want about government…but how amazing is it that with all this evidence…all the video…thousands of photos….they have been able to identify the suspects.  Yes, in a perfect world, they would have been caught immediately.  But the panic at that location, there’s just no way.  But all of those investigators and detectives are working around the clock putting pieces together and it seems like such a thankless job.  So thank you!  With so many family members part of the FBI and other friends that work there, I can only image that if my week was long…theirs had to be insane.  Part of me wants to just quit my job and go work for them to help take in all these tips.
  • To the first responders…I can’t even begin to understand how you do what you do.  You run in while everyone else runs away.  You put your safety before others.  You are our saviors and are truly special people.
  • To the journalists…Yes, it’s easy to sit back and pick on CNN for mistakenly report that two arrests were made in the bombings.  But let me tell you this – you know they had sources telling them this.  There are so many people involved in this investigation, and everyone is so quick to want to get out information, that sometimes things get screwed up.  But image, everyone in the world is watching tv right now waiting for the latest updates in this story.  Things are going to go wrong.  But I also think that along with law enforcement, first responders, you have to thank these reporters and producers who are working around-the-clock and doing their own investigations to try to get some answers.  It’s not just all for ratings and advertising money.  Most real journalists are very knowledgeable people who just want to help tell the truth.
  • Now – I take this opportunity to say it’s time for Wolf Blitzer to retire.  I’m done with him and his stupid questions.  Let this be your swan song and bow out, you aren’t doing CNN any favors.  I would also like to see more Anderson Cooper.

Do you know these people??  Call my FBI friends and let them know:
