I’m starting to really get into the holiday spirit this year. If you need help, check this out. Right now, Neil Patrick Harris (my boyfriend since his Doogie days when I had his Tiger Beat posters hanging over my bed…) is at Epcot as the narrarator of my favorite holiday event, Epcot’s Candlelight Processional.
We’ve made this an annual family event. Most years, I go more than once, I just love it so much. Aside from the celebrity narrating the event, the music is just amazing. But there are three things that I love more than anything about this event….and you may not even realize it.
- The Trumpets – Not only are the players amazing – but they play Fanfare Trumpets. Those are the really long trumpets. When my kids were little these would scare them and they would scream. BUT, they are my favorite in the show. I want to play one. (I did play the trumpet in marching band you know, so it’s not totally out of question!!)
- The Violins. Again – amazing. Each year I hear them and think, I want to play the violin. So two years ago, I bought one. Now I have it, and I have no idea what to do with them. I need to sign up for lessons. I LOVE the sound of the violins in this music.
- The Conductor. Seriously, Dr. John Sinclair is a show himself. I could watch him for hours. Over the years, I’ve studied all of his mannerisms. He’s so engaging and funny to watch, it’s mesmerizing. I’ve actually thought about walking out the one time I went to a show and he wasn’t conducting. The other guy did just fine, but there’s no one who could match Dr. Sinclair.
Back in 1997, I actually recorded an entire Candlelight performance with Neil Patrick Harris…so turn it on, go about your work and just listen to the magic.
Did you get video of the performance form 11/27/12? I was wondering because I sang at the 5pm show 🙂 thank you for watching!!
