Florida might not ever feel like “fall.” But there a ton of great events to try to help you get into the fall spirit.
For me, it’s Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween party at Disney’s Magic Kingdom.
Yes, it’s expensive. But it’s the perfect family Halloween event.
The special ticket entitles you to the park after it closes to day guests. You need a special wristband and Disney is pretty strict about keeping the event just to those with the bands.
With that said, it also means you won’t be waiting in long lines all night for rides.
If you have kids that can stay up later at night, you can hit everything in the park with no problem.
For me, the best part is seeing all the costumes.
I, traditionally, don’t enjoy Halloween. It’s the least favorite of the holidays. I don’t like being scared and I don’t like the creepy costumes.
If you want scary, head across town to Universal’s Halloween Horror Nights. Disney focuses on the cute side of Halloween.
Disney goes above with all the Halloween decorations at the event. There are also a number of trick-or-treating stops along the way. The nice thing here, even adults get candy! We normally end up with four huge bags of candy at the end of the night. Which will then be picked over to remove the awesome stuff…and the rest recycled to those that visit our house on Halloween.
Yes, we regift candy. But truth be told, we’re never home to actually hand out candy on Halloween. We typically put it all in a big bowl outside the door and hope people just take it and leave.
Normally we come home and it’s still full – the perks of living on a cul-de-sac.
There’s also a special Halloween parade during the event and special fireworks. All of it will make the experience totally worth it.
If you’re kids are into dancing, there are some awesome character dance parties. But my two boys would rather be caught dead then to be seen dancing with the characters from Toy Story…in public. They totally would do it at home.
I love when I see families doing some really awesome theming. There have been years when the entire family is dressed like Mouskateers, the Incredibles, characters from Alice in Wonderland.
So many great ones. I once saw a dude dressed up like a blow pop wearing white spandex. It was not a good look. (You can check that out in the slideshow above.)
I’ve never been able to talk my family into the family costume thing. Perhaps one day, I will.
Your family sounds lame. I mean, no costumes? Oh wait, I’m in your family. We are too awesome for costumes.
The parade, fireworks, and people watching are simply priceless, or rather worth of the price of admission. Nice post and enjoyed the slideshow.
