I don’t ask for much.
Honestly.
Nothing drives me more nuts than people constantly asking for money. It’s not something I like to do. Even when I was in Girl Scouts, I just couldn’t sell the cookies.
With that said, I figure if I don’t ask, I won’t receive.
I’m raising money for a very special community organization; and I hope you will help me…and them…and the community.
My family is part of the YMCA. Though we mainly use the facility to work-out and try to loose a few pounds, it’s become so much more. Both of my sons have learned to swim at the Y. They’ve played soccer, basketball, t-ball and football. My oldest is only six-year-old- so they have a whole lifetime of YMCA opportunities ahead of them.
We are lucky.
We can afford to go to the YMCA…it’s not cheap either! But it’s worth it for my family, the activities and the community of people that we’ve met.
But as I was just reminded, some people don’t have that opportunity. That’s why I’m part of the 2010 YMCA Scholarship Campaign.
Thursday night I was introduced to two amazing people with an amazing survival story. The Oviedo YMCA actually saved a life with one of their scholarships.
You can read the story here:

In short, an autistic Oviedo boy spent 12 hours in the Ocean after being pulled out to sea. The only thing that saved his life, swimming lessons at the Y. The Coast Guard rescued him, and he was floating on his back.
Now that you’re done crying- you can do something about it.
Donate $5, $10, $20, $100- doesn’t matter.
Even $1 will help. Every SINGLE dollar raised is used to help those who need it the most in the community right now. And that need is greater than ever.
You can donate via credit card, check, electronic funds transfer…you can send me cash. You can give anonymously. It’s easy…..email me at JenCook76@gmail.com.
You can give through paypal: scott_e_cook@hotmail.com
Did you know that $50 will give one child a whole session of swim lessons? That could easily save one life.
So please, give what you can.
And THANK YOU!
