Another 6am YMCA visit…MUSCLE TONING….yippie!!
I’ve become one with the barbell- but for the life of me, I can’t understand the exercise ball!
In theory, the primary benefit of exercising with an exercise ball as opposed to exercising directly on a hard flat surface is that the body responds to the instability of the ball to remain balanced, engaging many more muscles. Those muscles become stronger over time to keep balance. Most frequently, the core body muscles — the abdominal muscles and back muscles — are the focus of exercise ball fitness programs.
In reality, it sucks! Actually, it’s fun to use, but impossible to balance on!
This is what you’re supposed to look like….
This is what I looked like in class this morning (this is not me!!!)
The teacher makes it look so easy!!!!
I guess that’s why I need to work out, to get better at this stuff!
Balance comes with time, and passes with disuse. I used to be able to sit full lotus on a ball, now I pop them. Keep doing it!
