St. Patrick’s Day 2014 at Downtown Disney

St. Patrick’s Day is a big-deal holiday in our house.  My grandparents would get really into it and I think celebrating now just reminds us of them.  It also helps coming from Chicago where the river turns green and the parade is a big event!

The day starts with a visit by the Leprechauns.  Think a naughty Easter Bunny.  The leprechauns leave presents for the kids, but also leave gold coins all around the house, turn all the water green (toilet, water jug in the fridge) and toiler paper the inside of the house.

We had a brunch at Raglan Road, the irish pub/restaurant at Downtown Disney.  It’s one of my favorite places on a normal basis, but it’s crazy awesome on St. Patrick’s Day! We had an early brunch reservation, and that was so smart on our part (thanks husband!).  We got in early, had some amazing food and got to watch a great irish band and irish dancers and then got to leave just as the place was becoming a zoo! By the time we left, there was a 2-hour wait to sit.

We also got a chance to walk around Downtown Disney and explore some of the other St. Patrick’s Day fun.  Next year, we’re going to have to up our game and get a hotel near here so we can just hang all day long!!
