Football Cake Pops

If you’re looking for something fun to bring to a Super Bowl party, or an end-of-the-season kids football party, here’s something easy and fun; Football Cake Pops!

I made these for a Super Bowl party – and they were a hit.  Overall, it’s pretty easy.

Step 1: You will need cake mix and ingredients.  Frosting.  Lollipop sticks.  Some white decorating frosting/pen.

Step 2: Follow the directions on the cake box and bake the cake.  Once it cools, cut it up and mix it in a bowl with 3/4 of a frosting container.  I made chocolate cake with chocolate frosting.  But you can do any combination you wish.  You’re going to want to mix it good with your hands until it forms a dough consistency.

Step 3: Take out a spoonful of dough and roll it into a ball.  Once I had a good ball, I rolled it front to back of my hand and made it a little longer than rounder.  Then, I pinched out the ends to make it look more like a football.

Step 4:  Freeze the footballs for at least 45 minutes in the freezer.  This will keep from falling apart when you dip.

Step 5:  Melt your chocolate.  As I’ve previously mentioned, I prefer to use Almond Bark because it melts better.

Step 6: Dip the tip of a lollipop stick into the chocolate and stick it into the ball.  Dip the rest of the football and shake off the extra chocolate.  Then stand the stick up to dry.  I have a piece of styrofoam I use for all of my dipping.

Step 7:  Let all the chocolate set by putting all the pops in the fridge.  Once they are set, draw the football laces on top with your white decorating pen.

Step 8: Bring them to your party where everyone will ask you, “how did you make these?”
