Binge-watching my way through rerun season

Sweeps starts back up in February.  For you non-tv people out there, it really means the time when new tv shows are back on again!

In this lull of reruns, I’ve been able to binge-watch a bunch of new (and old!) shows.  I thought I would share some of my favorites in the event you are bored of watching CSI or Law and Order reruns.

  • Orange Is The New Black: Netflix – The show is essentially about life inside a female prison but it’s also so much more.  It’s also the kind of show that really reminds you how lucky we are here on the outside.  They just wrapped season 1 so there’s still time to catch up.  Highly recommend it – but know that it’s totally NOT family friendly.  They have started production on season 2 right now.  The best thing about this is they are posting lots of pictures to their Instagram site, keeping us fans entertained!tumblr_mzwl9w4N5r1s39hlao1_500
  • House of Cards:  Netflix-  Season 2 of this outstanding show returns on Feb. 14 (Happy Valentine’s Day!) so you have time to catch up.  This show is like a more-realistic version of Scandal, which I also love.  This is much darker and funny, in a sick sort-of way.  Kevin Spacey is unbelievable in this role.  Expect major awards for him and Robin Wright.
  • Sherlock: BBC-PBS:  I’m super late to the Sherlock obsession.  And frankly, I’m happy about that.  I just watched Season 3, Episode 1 to see what all the fuss was about, and I LOVED IT. So I found it on Hulu and was able to catch up on past seasons.  Each season only has 3 episodes.  Yes, that’s right.  But each one is 90 minutes long.  So you can catch up on the entire series pretty quick if you’re a binge-watcher like me.  I’ve now come to find out that fans had to wait TWO YEARS in between seasons?! That’s some dedication.
And that Benedict Cumberbatch?! I mean come on.  I may be in love.tumblr_n04gzr07Qh1sqglkoo1_500
  • The Newsroom: HBO- Yes it’s my favorite show in the world.  Two seasons have been complete and HBO just announced it’s coming back for a third and final season this July.  So you have no excuse to catch up!  This is my favorite show to watch when I have nothing else on.  I have re-watched this, well, too many times to admit.  I’m excited, yet scared for it to come back.  It better end well or Aaron Sorkin will be on my nasty list.tumblr_ma01j4b6p31qada28o1_250
  • The Goldbergs:  ABC- Right now, it’s the one new thing on network tv worth watching.  This show is our family favorite.  It’s so dead-on the 80s for me.  The toys in the background, the clothes, the awkward parent moments.  My favorite part is the end of each episode when they show the real 80s video at the end of each episode.  So worth it.  This is one of the few shows that i non-stop laugh at.

What am I missing? Anything else I should get into? I thought about trying to watch Dr. Who but then saw how many episodes I would have to catch up on, and I just can’t.
