My first Truck Pull at Cowboys

It’s true.  I’m a city girl at heart.  Growing up in the suburbs of Chicago, I’m all about mass-transportation and feel totally safe in a crowded subway.  I have visited a farm a few times in my life, only to find that I’m pretty much allergic to everything on it.

Even in college, many called Michigan State, Moo U.  The closest I ever came to seeing a cow was at the Dairy Store, home to lots of amazing ice cream flavors. Yes, I’ve been to NASCAR races.  I’ve taken lots of ridicule from friends about that. But what can I say, I like the smell of burning rubber.  So when some friends invited me out to Cowboys in Orlando, I was intrigued.  I don’t know anything about “line dancing”- although I am pretty decent at the Electric Slide and more recently, The Wobble.  (and I did one help organize one kick-ass flash mob for my sisters wedding!)  But anyway…

This wasn’t just going to Cowboys.  It was going to Cowboys during a truck pull!!

I’m pretty sure I raised my hand and asked….umm…what’s a truck pull?  In short, it’s tug of war between two trucks hooked together.  One tries to pull the other over some designated point to win.  What normally ended up happening, in my limited experience, is one truck would break down after trying so hard so the other wins.  So these expensive trucks are BROKE.  And the winner gets…..bragging rights.

Did you watch the part where the truck is ON FIRE?!  CRAZY! Overall, it was a great night.  I enjoyed hanging out with a new group of girls and we had lots of laughs.  I laughed non-stop because I literally felt like I was in a foreign country.  Every person had the same camo jacket from Bass Pro Shop.  The trucks were big and loud and the beer was cold.  It was also freezing outside but I have never seen more people in one small place! They were dedicated!

If you missed out, don’t worry! They do these truck pulls twice a year.

Bonus story if you’re still reading.  But be prepared, it’s gross:

We were waiting in the line for the bathroom.  It was a long line – about 20 minutes.  There were a lot of Port-O-Potties around, but I would rather wait.  So as I’m close to the front, some girl runs into the bathroom and other girls are screaming about her cutting into line.  She runs over to a sink to wash her hands.  Tries to get soap, but it’s empty.  Others are still yelling at her about cutting in line and she turns around and says, “It’s an emergency! My friends phone fell into the port-o-potty and I reached in to get it..I need to wash my hands!”   TRUE STORY.
