Saying goodbye to my JackJack cat

Today is a very sad day in the Cook house.  We had to make a really tough decision and put an end to the suffering of our little JackJack.

He was simply the best cat ever.  We got this kitty from my friend Leslie who rescued him on a very cold night in Orlando.  He was found outside the Lake Eola Panera and was too good of a cat to pass up.  He got off to a bit of a rocky start with Scott who grabbed his tail by mistake and got a big bite – but after that little drama, he was just the sweetest cat.

The thing about Jack is that he didn’t think or act like a cat.  He was a dog.  He was my dog and my shadow and really never left my side.  He would talk back to me when I asked him questions.  He would give me high-fives on demand.   He slept at my feet every night over the last 14 years and I can’t imagine my life without him.

He also had a very special bond with my boys, and I think there hearts are now broken into a million pieces.  His original name was Jack (after Jack Daniels) but then Brendan went through a massive “The Incredibles” phase and it turned into Jack Jack after the baby in the movie.

My poor little baby kitty is now in kitty heaven with his sister Guinness and brother Bailey.  It’s a very sad day.

  1. These photos are so sweet. I’m so sorry that you had to do this today but please take a teeny bit of solace in knowing that you and your family gave him a good life.

  2. What a beautiful cat and I am so sorry for your loss. I just lost my 19-year-old Billy Cat. He was like a dog too, so affection. May your baby rest in peace and may you find comfort in knowing that you gave him a wonderful life. Hugs from New Jersey.
