Biking through Celebration

I used to work in Celebration, Florida.  I realized today that was about 14-15 years ago.  How did that happen?  I remember going rollerblading a few times while I worked there, but I didn’t have a bike back then.

One of my blogger friends Kelly has been blogging a lot lately about biking around Celebration, so I figured my Labor Day ride would be out there.  And let me just say, I can’t wait to go back and do it again.

I did a 10-mile ride in an hour.  The best part of the ride was that it was mostly shaded.  The forgot about the great boardwalks that travel through the woods.  It was a perfect way to avoid the hot Florida sun.

Celebration was pretty empty today – but I can image those boardwalks get a bit crowded – and some are so narrow that you really can’t be flying through there.  I think that’s what I really loved about it – there was no pressure to be fast like on the bike trails.

Not only was it great to drool over the beautiful homes, but there was also a lot of wildlife watching.  I saw five different gators swimming in ponds.  I also saw some giant grasshopper type things that were super gross.  I almost ran over a few on my bike but managed to avoid them.  Nasty.  I can’t wait to return and ride father next time!
