What I’m Watching – May 2013 TV Update

OK guys….House of Cards…I’m obsessed!

If you don’t know about it – you may be living under a rock…or I don’t have a life…either way. WOW.

If you like a good political drama, this is the show for you.

What you need to know…Kevin Spacey kicks some ass….Robin Wright is scary good…and there’s a great journalist who looks just like Danica Patrick.

It’s very inside politics. Kevin Spacey plays the Majority Whip and he has to get stuff done…and this show is how he does it.

But seriously – I watched the ENTIRE 13 episode series this past weekend. It’s a Netflix exclusive, so that’s the only place to find it. It’s so worth it. Really makes you think….

Also, if you watch you may notice a badge like this.  This is my actual visitors badge from a recent visit to the U.S. Capitol.  I love that it’s also in the show and looks so much alike!!

Also watching:

  • Nurse Jackie – So happy it’s back…and it’s better than ever.
  • Veep – Second second to me seems funnier than the first. I liked it a lot – but now I LOVE IT. It’s just so funny and Julia Louis-Dreyfus can do NO WRONG people.
  • Nashville – I hate to admit it, but this show is a huge guilty pleasure. I don’t enjoy country music at all, but I can overlook that for the drama that is the music industry.
  • Toy Hunter – So glad it’s back! This little gem is on the Travel Channel, and is seriously my 9 year-old’s favorite show on television. Basically, think American Pickers…but basically this dude is just looking for vintage toys to sell. Lots of Star Wars and Strawberry Shortcake…and I love it!
  • The Mindy Project – Is it just me or do these episodes just keep getting better and better. I seriously love this show.
  • New Girl – Another show that has be debating if I need to wear diapers to watch TV. Has there been a better tv character in recent history than Schmidt? And I love me some Nick Miller.
  • The Voice – I’m so ashamed to admit we are watching a reality show. Other than anything on Bravo, I’m typically anti-reality programming. I blame them for the dumbing down of television. However, this one has somehow slipped into our nightly rotation and we love it. The judges all work for me…the talent is all amazing! And aside from the technical issues they have with a few live performances, it’s really easy to watch. They don’t Ryan Seacrest you and make you wait forever for decisions and stuff. I really like it.

Waiting for the return of:

  • The Neighbors – Can’t wait for this one to return! It sounds like the dumbest idea ever for a television show and I would have bet that it would not make it. But the writing is some of the funniest around and the characters are just amazing hysterical. It’s so smart! And it’s PG enough that my kids can watch it…and they LOVE it as well. So it’s a big family win. Seriously – it needs to come back soon.
  • The Good Wife – That season finale…OMG. What is going on? And I can’t figure out if I’m on Team Will or Team Peter. I think I’m on #TeamWill….but, I flip-flop so easily.
  • The Newsroom – Listen, I’ve been very patient, and enjoying the cast (or the writers, or just people with no lives) on twitter. BUT I NEED THE NEWSROOM BACK ON THE AIR ASAP. Thank you.
  • Bunheads – Where are you? Come back my little dancers!
  • Parenthood – Sometimes I like to sit in my pj’s and cry while watching tv. This show helps me do just that. While it’s super sad at times, it’s real life and I love all of these characters…and actors! (Long live Lorelei Gilmore!)

Getting tired of:

  • Smash – I so want to love it. I want it to be Nashville good…and it’s just missing something, and I can’t figure out what.
