Saying goodbye to Christmas

I’m now all depressed having said goodbye to the holidays. Christmas is officially over.

Yesterday, we had my work holiday party. We do it after the holidays, which is nice and gives us all a way of extending the fun! I even wore my fancy party shoes!

I did do some dancing in those shoes – and it was fabulous!

Today was spent de-Christmasing our home. With four different Christmas trees, it’s quite the effort.

Christmas-Ornaments

Piles of Christmas ornaments ready to go back in their boxes.

Putting Uncle Mistletoe back until next Christmas!

Even Uncle Mistletoe gets put away…and that makes me sad.

The high point of putting Christmas decorations away for my children, time to eat the gingerbread house! I let them tear it apart today, since we are just going to throw it away anyway.  I’m not sure why they would want to eat stale candy, but they did!

This year we made a new wretch for my son’s door.  You see, my little man is obsessed with penguins!! So we made our very own penguin wreath this holiday season, and he did NOT want to put it away…

Even the new kitty got in on the action! As I was putting away monorail world which sits under the Mickey Mouse tree, the kitty had to be in the middle of it all.  Once I started taking apart the Contemporary Resort, he jumped right in and thought it was a little house.

Now my house looks all empty and sad.  What about you? Are you happy or sad when it’s time to de-Christmas? What will you miss the most until next holiday season?

  1. There is always a sad moment when the final decorations have been removed and placed in a box. But part of what makes Christmas special is it’s limited time engagement. When they get put back up the next year, it’s even more fun!
