Disney’s new ‘Be our Guest’ restaurant in Fantasyland wows bloggers

Ma chere Mademoiselle, it is with deepest pride and greatest pleasure that we welcome you tonight. And now we invite you to relax, let us pull up a chair as the dining room proudly presents – your dinner!Be Our Guest

The newest restaurant on Walt Disney World property is Be Our Guest, which is now open in the new Fantasyland at Magic Kingdom. I was one of the lucky few to attend a Fantasyland Meetup by the Disney Parks Blog. The best part about it, we had no idea what to expect.

After checking in and hitting all my favorite stores within the Magic Kingdom, we headed into the new Fantasyland to get in line for dinner. We were set up with the fun and fabulous Michelle who blogs here, and her husband Brian, and ushered into the ballroom for our dinner. It was hard to just walk in and not stop and stare at the breathtaking view, especially when the ballroom was empty.

We sat down at our table in the center of the room and were greeted by our server for the evening, Shelly. She was so knowledgeable about the food, but also about all the details surrounding us.

It was pretty obvious all cameras were pointed up. We just couldn’t stop starring at the amazing ceiling and the chandeliers.

Here’s what we learned from Shelly. The chandeliers were imported from Italy. The center one was so big, it wouldn’t fit through the front door, so they had to somehow take it apart, and obviously get it back together to hang here. The little babies, or cherubs, painted on the ceiling were all hand painted by the Imagineers who worked on this section. All the babies are either pictures of them when they were babies, babies with their adult faces on them, or babies of the Imagineers.

Before we even got to look at the menu, we were given the most amazing and impressive looking beverage ever:

The Royal Goblet

The actual glass portion unscrews from the base and you can put it in the dishwasher. And the battery is replaceable – it’s a pretty grand statement to bring to your home dinner table!

Here’s a look at our menu options for the evening:

I did the French Onion Soup, the Pork Rack Chop and for dessert, the Triple Chocolate Cupcake. It was all….amazing. This is not your average theme park food. It really raises the bar not only on food quality, but food presentation and theming. I will let the food bloggers talk more about the actual food…but I want to focus more on the actual restaurant. After dinner, we ventured into the West Wing, perhaps my favorite room of the three. It’s dark and spooky but amazing all at the same time. The dark wood is accented by the dark sounding music.

It was explained to us that if you walked all three rooms, you will hear the same string of music, same beats, just different main themes. In the Rose Room, it’s a music box, the Ball Room has the grand dance music, and the West Wing is the dark, spooky music. It also has some amazing effects with the Beast’s Rose and the portrait hanging on the wall – so be sure to pay attention to that.

The Beast’s Rose – pay attention to the falling petals.

And when you see the petal fall, look quickly at the portrait on the wall, you’ll see it change…

And then it’s off to the Rose Room, where the life size music box of Belle and Beast dancing plays. Dancing Beast & Belle.

This was actually a gift from Belle’s father, Maurice. You can see his plans for this wedding gift inside Maurice’s House, in the Storytime with Belle attraction.  There is also some amazing art on the wall.

There will be a lot more blogs on this night in the near future! There’s just so much to share!  It was a great night talking to Chef’s, Imagineers and more.  As always, Disney did an amazing job with this event and it’s overall just really amazing that they do this much to bring in silly bloggers like me.
