The Important Letter “R”

I have a lot of facebook, twitter and actually in-person comments about a now famous picture posted earlier this week.

Here’s the story for those of you who haven’t heard.

My precious little 7-year-old, Brendan, was forced to write thank-you notes for the birthday presents he received from his friends/family.

This was not a chore that he was excited about.  But with the choices of writing thank-you notes or returning the presents, he picked the notes.

It was time to write the thank-you note to Grandma and Grandpa.

Here’s what he wrote:

Brendan's thank-you note to Grandma and Grandpa, Part 1.

Needless to say, I lost my s*(t!

I started laughing hysterically.  I seriously couldn’t even speak.

At some point, my dear son looked at me and said “what’s wrong?”

Not being able to put together a sentence, I just put my hand in front of my face and continued laughing.

He said, “did I make a mistake??”

I nodded, managing to give a small yes in between laughs.

He looked at the note, and said, “Oh, I know.”

This is a look at take 2:

Brendan's thank-you note to Grandma and Grandpa, Take 2.

Yes people.

He meant to say shiRt.  But thought his mistake was that he forgot the, “the.”

He got a shirt from my parents…a SHIRT!

I finally was able to speak again, telling him he wrote a bad word.  He figured out what it was, and then started crying thinking he would be in trouble.

He’s my sensitive child and he quickly fixed his mistake, through the tears.

So to answer the other burning question, NO, I was unable to keep and/or frame the note.

However, I have these photos and will put that in a frame for my parents.
